There is a plethora of literature on leadership. The central concern of this topic is on leadership that is effective in improving outcomes for all children and young people. With that in mind, this topic has considered:
- leadership in relation to leadership for improvement
- key leadership styles and their influence
- characteristics and features of leadership
- distributed leadership and collaborative leadership approaches for increasing leadership capacity and impact.
A focus on teacher leadership in formal and informal roles has also been undertaken. Finally, the notion of instructional leadership has been explored with learning and teaching centered as the core business for school leaders.
