Masters in Education Practice: Leadership

2

Thinking about leadership and leadership styles

2.6

Summary

This topic has explored a range of thinking about leadership and leadership styles. We considered the issue of whether leaders are born or bred and the long-standing influence of trait theory. Then we reflected on the prevailing image of leaders as heroes who are drafted in to turn around the fortunes of schools and whether a more realistic and effective model resided in leaders-as-hosts.
