Reading early – introduction

Many schools in Wales have implemented a 'phonics first' pedagogy for the teaching of reading and in this subtopic the area of systematic synthetic phonics is considered in relation to the implementation of the National Literacy and Numeracy Framework (LNF).

As a precursor to phonics teaching, the crucial area of developing the skills of oracy are also considered in this sub-topic.
