Social development

Social development is the development of a person’s social interactions over the life span. It includes the development of:

  • social interactive skills with children and adults
  • social understanding and empathy
  • friendships
  • play and leisure skills
  • personal and social independence
  • socially appropriate behaviour.

Social and emotional developments are inextricably linked to each other and to moral and spiritual development.
