Raising Standards Together

Effective use of data and research evidence

Effective use of data and research evidence is a key characteristic of the professional learning model (PLM).

Research and data have a pivotal role in informing the professional learning of practitioners and enhancing learner outcomes.

When practitioners make effective use of data and other research evidence this not only raises the status of the profession but, most significantly, informs decision-making about how to best meet the needs of learners and which interventions to adopt so that learners’ needs are achieved.

See Professional Learning Pack Topic 2 (Teachers as Researchers) and Topic 3 (Research Informing Practice).

Both topics highlight how data and other research evidence can be used to enhance professional practice.
